Akim

An akim (Kazakh: әкім / äkım [æˈkɘm]; Kyrgyz: аким [a̠ˈkʲi̠m]) is the head of a local government in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The term akim is derived from the Arabic word حاكم hakim, which means 'ruler' or 'governor'.
